"And
your new Miss Gay Arkansas America is ………”
Every contestant standing on the Discovery stage hopes that their name is
the
name that completes that sentence. On August 15, 2010, my name was called.
It was the most amazing feeling that I have ever experienced in my female
impersonation career. I am so very humbled and honored to have been named
Miss Gay Arkansas America 2010.
Hard work and true love....... the two things that I can say helped me to
finally
achieve my dream. However, it wasn’t just my dream; the eleven contestants
that
stood with me, worked just as hard and shared the same aspiration. I want
to say
thank you to all of the contestants for their hard work and dedication. Gentlemen,
you are all awesome. I cannot wait to work with each of you in this upcoming
pageant season. Remember, I am just a phone call or email away. I keep an
open
door policy and plan to be very hands on and active in the upcoming pageant
season.
As these few weeks have passed, I have steadily been preparing for the trip
to Miss
Gay America. The feeling is great to know that I am not just representing
myself; but
the entire state of Arkansas. I promise to do my very best in Columbus, OH.
In
preparation for Miss Gay America I sat for my official photo shoot as Miss
Gay Arkansas.
WOW!!! Thank you so very much to my new sisters Kelly Cruise, Kamrin Mikaels,
Meagan
Michaels, Stephanie Richards, Christina Saxton and to my best friend Jazmyn
Turrelle you
all made me feel like a True Queen; I felt so loved with your help and laughter.
A bigger
thank you to Dixie Knight for her amazing talent and many years of dedication
to the Miss
Gay Arkansas America pageant system. You ROCK!!! The shoot was amazing and
went
by so very fast. The photos will be out very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
In closing, I want to say thank you to everyone! My journey to get where I
am today
has not been an easy one, but I thank God I have been able to travel this
path. So many
individuals have supported and rode with me on this crazy ride, but this ride
has just begun. As this year passes,
expect great things to happen with Miss Gay Arkansas America. It will be because
of you, wonderful things will occur.
The endless love and support that you bring to this pageant system only makes
us stronger. Thank you from the Arkansas
Alumni Committee and myself. Thirty-nine years and counting.
Forever Yours,
Shawn Tyler Andrews
