Dear
Readers:
Well, Spring has sprung and I have been inundated with allergies.
For everyone who called me this past week, please forgive me as
I could not speak so I could not answer. I hope you left a voicemail.
First, I would like to congratulate two more contestants who have
qualified to compete for Miss Gay Arkansas America 2009. Reigning
Miss Gay Heartland America, Miss Mya Alexander captured the title
of Miss Gay Hot Springs Arkansas America 2009, with Miss Diedra
Windsor Walker qualifying as first alternate. I was so proud of all the
contestants and they all looked lovely and each did a wonderful job!
Many thanks go out to Connie Jo and the great staff at Jesters. You
always do such a great job and make me feel so very special!
Last Sunday, Discovery was the venue for the Official Miss Arkansas
USofA 2009 pageant. I was honored that I was asked to entertain and
was so very impressed with the beauty, both inside and out of the
current Miss USofA Kara Young Ross. She is truly an example of what
being a titleholder is all about. Also, congratulations to my sister, Lexie
Ly DeMourney, you did an
outstanding job as Miss Arkansas UsofA and I am proud to have reigned with
you. Congratulations go
out to Dominique Sanchez who again swept the categories, showing her experience,
talent, and expertise.
Congratulations also to first alternate Miss Christina Saxton. I know you
both will represent Arkansas well
at nationals and the best of luck to both of you!
I want to remind all of you contestants
that things are about to heat up in the Arkansas America system.
Miss Rev Room will be held at The Rev Room on May 2nd! I am so excited about
this pageant as it is evidence
that this art form is moving into mainstream and catching the attention of
both gays and straights alike. Miss
Sasha Harrison will be relinquishing her title and two more contestants will
qualify to compete at MGARA.
Additionally, Miss Spa City will be held May 23rd at Jesters’ Lounge
in Hot Springs. Please continue to check
the website for updates on other preliminaries and their locations.
I hope that everyone is putting the
finishing touches on their packages and addressing concerns that may
have become apparent. Remember, being prepared is key to experiencing success.
The only package that
you need to be concerned with is YOUR package. Afterall, that is the only
package that you have any control
over. It does no good to speculate about what others will bring. Simply bring
your very best and do your very
best, and then be proud of what you’ve done. Remember, the journey is
just as important as the prize, for it
shapes us into who we are.
Honored to be your Miss Arkansas,
Todd Stiedle aka Stephanie Richards
