Dear
Readers:
June, June, where are you June? I just
cannot believe how this year is flying by!
I hope that everyone is enjoying the summer so far. June was not only HOT,
but
was filled with many activities that kept me very busy.
June is when Arkansas celebrates Gay Pride and I was fortunate and honored
to
be included in the festivities! I rode in the Gay Pride Parade in Conway on
Sunday
afternoon, and while it was hot, it was wonderful! All of the participants
were so
very nice and I got to meet most of them. I also got to entertain at the festival,
and although I broke my most comfortable pair of shoes, I would not have traded
that experience for anything. That very night, I was honored to perform during
the
Miss and Mr. Gay Pride pageant at UBU. It was a lot of fun and congratulations
to
Miss Brianna Braxton Paige and Mr. Johnny DeMarco, your 2009 Miss and Mr.
Gay
Pride! Everyone competing did a great job and I was so glad to see so many
people
out. I also got to take part in the bar crawl and the crowd continued to grow
throughout the night as we traveled from bar to bar, entertaining. It was
fabulous!
The rest of the week we had underwear parties, pajama parties, karaoke, and
many
more fun events and the various bars throughout the city, culminating in the
Turn-About show at Backstreet. Those
of you in attendance got to see Norma Kristie impersonating Sarah Boyle, and
many other great entertainers. I can
honestly say that I have never seen anyone break dance in a beaded cocktail
dress until that night.
I hope all of you that have already qualified for Miss Arkansas America 2009
are working diligently on your packages.
If you have any questions or need help, please do not hesitate to contact
me. For those of you who have yet to qualify,
we will hold Miss Central Arkansas on July 4th, Miss UBU on July 17th, and
Miss Northwest on July 19th. This means
that there are still plenty of opportunities to qualify to compete this year!
You don’t want to be in the audience kicking
yourself come August.
I am also in the process of selling ads for the souvenir program. If I have
not contacted you, please feel free to contact
me. These will be distributed during the pageant and can provide awareness
and most importantly, get your message
out to those attending the pageant. Contestants, I would love for each of
you to have ads in the program with your
pictures. Please talk to your sponsors and friends to see if you can make
this happen! Additionally, promoters from
other systems are encouraged to be a part of this as well.
Honored to be your Miss Arkansas America,
Todd B. Stiedle aka Stephanie Richards
