In a blink and a flash, the 2024 preliminary season is over, and the 2024 Miss Gay Arkansas America Class is complete! As I sit and reflect on the past 8 months, I can’t help but feel extremely proud and also a little sad that I am just 4 months away from getting off of the ride of a lifetime.
I’ve never been shy when expressing that the America system was always my goal, and that when I stepped into it I had zero expectations of winning a city prelim. I definitely did not expect to win Miss Gay Arkansas! I walked into Miss Gay Little Rock 2023 with a mindset of growth and learning, along with eagerness to one day be Miss Gay Arkansas. It came quickly and unexpectedly, so there was much to learn; I am so thankful that there were a team of sisters behind me to answer questions and lend a hand. I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t recognize Savvy Savant (MGAR 2022) and Athena Sinclair (MGAR 2021) for their constant voice throughout the year, along with many other sisters who've always checked in and shown support. We’ve all heard it before that there is nothing like the Arkansas America sisterhood, and I am honored to have experienced it firsthand. I can truly attest that we have something special.
Before I go into what is coming for Miss Gay Arkansas America 2024, I want to highlight some of the amazing things that are coming for PRIDE month here in the beautiful Diamond State.
June 1 – SoMa Pride Little Rock, ARJune 1 – Picnic in the Park Hot Springs, AR
June 6-9 – Eureka Springs Pride
June 8 – Pride Walk Hot Springs, AR
June 8 – Siloam Springs Pride
June 8-9 – NEA Pride
June 15 – Batesville Pride
June 22 – Ft Smith Pride
June 28-29 – NWA Pride (Trans Walk, Pride Parade, Glitterville, White Party)
June 29 – Hot Springs Pride Pageant
As we all celebrate PRIDE, remember that our differences are what makes us and our state beautiful. Support and love one another so that our communities can see that love shared. Be the role model you once needed, and the one wanted to see out and about; there will be someone next to you who needs that reassurance that it will get better and be okay.
Miss Gay Arkansas America 2024 is proud to present “Kaleidoscope of Dreams” as our theme. This is something I have thought on for a long time and it is something special to me. A group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope, and if you know me then you know I LOVE butterflies. But on a deeper level, a kaleidoscope is an object made of broken pieces in order to create a beautiful picture. As people we are all made up of broken parts and pieces, and it is those broken parts that enhance our individuality and create the beauty of our communities and world. For the first time, please help me welcome and congratulate our beautiful class and symbols of excellence for Miss Gay Arkansas America 2024
